In Dynamics of the Singing Voice, author Meribeth Bunch Dayme revisits the topics presented in the 4 previous editions of this classic review of voice and vocal pedagogy and adds a discussion of the role played by research in the field of human energy. She provides a more extensive discussion of the potential contribution of performance psychology and emphasizes the importance of attending to other aspects of the singer as a person, eg, emotions, spirituality, and practices that focus on developing a mind-body balance. The author, a trained singer, teacher of voice as well as the anatomy of the vocal mechanism, researcher, music director, and vocal consultant, offers a thorough review of how vocal production occurs and the challenges faced by performers and teachers.
