To the Editor: We are writing to express our regret that we neglected to report financial disclosures in our Commentary on dietary allowance of protein.1 Dr Wolfe has received an honorarium and expenses for participation in the “Protein Summit 2007: Exploring the impact of high-quality protein on optimal health,” with support for the conference provided by the Egg Nutrition Center, National Dairy Council, National Pork Board, and the Beef Checkoff through the National Cattlemen's Beef Association. Dr Miller was formerly employed by the National Cattlemen's Beef Association until her resignation in 2005 and has served as a consultant for the Physicians' Committee for Responsible Medicine in 2006. We apologize to the editors and readers of JAMA for omitting these disclosures and to the extent to which they may reflect a conflict of interest. We hope this information will not affect interpretation of our article. We are not contractually affiliated with and we do not receive any research support from any of the cited organizations.
