The issue of peer relationships in medicine is barely mentioned in the literature. A recent MEDLINE search using key terms professionalism, physician communication, physician relationships, interphysician relationships, and interphysician communication yielded a wealth of writings on ethical and cultural concerns and the patient-physician relationship, but just one piece addressing clear and adequate communication between physicians.1 This article addressed the problem from an educational rather than an ethical or collegial perspective, successfully testing the hypothesis that a virtual computer program could be used to enhance medical students' consultative and collaborative skills.
