The field of pediatric infectious diseases continues to advance rapidly and is one of the most compelling medical subjects for pediatricians. Because practitioners commonly encounter children with infectious processes, making the correct diagnosis promptly and instituting the best management continues to be a challenging effort. Hot Topics in Infection and Immunity in Children VIII provides current knowledge for diagnosing and treating these patients.

Based on 17 lectures delivered at a June 2010 conference in Oxford, England, the book has a strong European perspective and many international contributors. The lectures were edited and put into narrative format for publication as a book. The book targets clinical researchers, trainees, and trainers, and it offers them a great deal of valuable new information. Reading the text is akin to attending this academic conference—without the airfare and jet lag.
