In a bipartisan effort, 6 members of the Senate Finance Committee are seeking ideas from the health care community for improving federal efforts to combat waste, fraud, and abuse in the Medicare and Medicaid programs.

In an open letter on May 2 to interested stakeholders in the health care community, the senators said that fraud and misspending in these programs may total as much as $100 billion and that they were soliciting ideas about possible solutions, particularly ideas for improving program integrity, bolstering payment reforms, and enhancing enforcement efforts to ensure tougher penalties against those who commit fraud (http://tinyurl.com/7yzudo9).
