To the Editor:—
To put the lie to the $25,000 quote, very few financially established physicians—none to my knowledge—make extra money by taking night call in the hospital in which they have practice privileges, or in any other hospital. If the opportunity is there, why don't they take advantage of it and rake in the shekels? Because to most of us in medicine, there are some things in life more important than a few extra dollars. Medical educators, your gun-barrel vision becomes you not. You may be sailing full steam into the future, but you have neglected to pull up the anchor.
