The early chapters deal with basic aspects of colon anatomy, physiology, and pathology of the region. The greater part of the book, however, is concerned with the author's experience of 22 years with 2,160 patients having cancer of the lower gastrointestinal tract. The opinions and experiences of others in the same field are reviewed and compared with his own. Greatly welcomed is the author's presentation of his own guidelines to the various problems after sifting alternatives.Throughout this book, one is impressed by the investigative mind of the author. He has recognized problems, asked why, and defined an answer based upon investigation and
