Courses sponsored by the University of California at Los Angeles in Continuing Education in Medicine have carried 800 doctors from all over the nation on world-wide medical tours. Now in their third year, the courses send doctors wherever significant medical management and research are going on. The faculties are chosen from medical teachers and investigators in the countries visited. UCLA faculty members participate, but largely through discussions which develop after the day's lecture and clinical sessions are over.
With more people traveling more places than ever before, physicians are sometimes called upon to diagnose and treat diseases which they have never seen. The UCLA program is designed to provide the physician with a world-wide view of disease and treatment.
Countries visited have included Egypt, Greece, Israel, Japan, Mexico, and Hong Kong. Australia and New Zealand are scheduled for a course this year.
