ABSTRACT

To the Editor:—  I had another check made on the facts in Time's "Misery Harbor" story of December 4. Since then you have published an editorial " 'Time' Marches On" in the December 9 issue of The Journal. Your telegram will appear in the "Letters" column of the current issue of Time (December 18) with editorial comment. Your editorial is such an abusive attack that I want to answer it in detail.It says:The article in Time is mentioned here because it is replete with absolute misstatements of fact beyond anything of a similar character published in the field of medicine even in that periodical during recent years.And then adds:Indeed the article betrays a carelessness almost incomprehensible in a periodical which has in the past frequently gone to extended lengths to secure accuracy.The "extended lengths" to which Time went to secure accuracy in the "Misery Harbor" story
