Medical Microbiology

This book is a revision and enlargement of the Textbook on Bacteriology by the same author. It was apparently written to suit the requirements of the author in his own classroom. Part i is devoted to the historical aspects and other phases of general bacteriology; part II gives brief instructions for laboratory routine; part III presents sources and modes of infection, with brief instructions for procedures in the operating room and the home; part iv deals with the microbiology of some of the more important communicable diseases. Five appendixes contain instructions for the preparation of culture mediums and stains and procedures for immunologic tests. Without doubt the book is satisfactory to the needs of the author, but the brevity of description in some cases is unfortunate. For instance, the student is instructed to adjust Endo's medium to ph 7.4, but the method of making such an adjustment is omitted.
