REGISTRATION UNDER HARRISON NARCOTIC ACT  Every physician registered under the Harrison Narcotic Act must reregister on or before July 1 with the collector of internal revenue of each district in which he maintains an office or a place for the treatment of patients. Failure to reregister within the time allowed by law adds a penalty of 25 per cent to the annual narcotic tax payable at the time of registration and in addition makes the physician in default liable to a fine not exceeding $2,000, or to imprisonment for not exceeding five years, or to both. The Commissioner of Internal Revenue has been so lenient in the past in enforcing the criminal penalties provided by the act that many physicians seem to have assumed that promptness in reregistration is not material.
