Despite its comprising little more than 200 pages, Violence and Abuse Issues is chock full of information for an interdisciplinary audience of students, faculty, and practitioners. Part 1 provides an overview and theoretical perspective on violence prevention and survivor care from an international lens, highlighting essential knowledge, attitudes, and skills in an easy-to-digest outline/bullet point format. This section insists that violence prevention and survivor care is a critically important international public health issue requiring approaches from generalists, first responders, and specialists trained for in-depth work with survivors. In addition to defining violence as a learned behavior rooted in sexual inequality that infringes on human rights, these authors also focus on resilience.
