Use of the antipsychotic drug quetiapine in combination with other drugs that can cause arrhythmias should be avoided, according to a new warning on the drug's label.
The label now recommends that physicians avoid using quetiapine in combination with other drugs that may prolong the QT interval, including quinidine, procainamide, amiodarone, sotalol, other antipsychotic medications, certain antibiotics, pentamidine, levomethadyl acetate, and methadone. The label also recommends that physicians avoiding using quetiapine in patients at increased risk for arrhythmia.
