To the Editor: Kudos to Dr Breslow1 for articulating the compelling rationale for moving
medicine and public health beyond the prevention and treatment of illness
to the promotion of well-being. When my daughter Caroline wrote this story
at age 6, she reminded me that children can teach adults about well-being:
Surely, we adult clinicians and public health practitioners can accept
Breslow's challenge and help those we serve achieve what Campbell2 called "the rapture of being alive."
