In Reply: Dr Foucar and Dr Volpintesta acknowledge the challenges clinicians face in managing increasing capacity in health care. We agree with Foucar's suggestion that flawed pathologic classification systems contribute to the increasing incidence of pseudodisease. The language used to describe clinical state and pathological findings plays a major role in determining how patients and clinicians will respond. In the absence of a classification system that accounts for the full spectrum of disease, language may remain more of a hindrance than a help to wise decision making.
