To the Editor: I am writing to protest the decision of the AMA administration to fire Dr Lundberg.1 I have been a member of the AMA for more than 35 years and I was editor of American Journal of Diseases of Children (AJDC) (now known as the Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine) and a member of the JAMA editorial board for 11 years under Lundberg's leadership. During that decade, we saw JAMA and the family of AMA journals soar in respectability, vying with other leading academic journals as the premier sources for physicians and scientists. This increase in reputation and scientific and editorial content occurred largely because of Lundberg's leadership. During my tenure, there was no interference with the content of AJDC by anyone. Dissent with content in the journal appeared in the letters to the editor or in editorial comment submitted by authors.
